Over the past six months, ICAERUS partners have been busy sharing the projects activities and results across Europe. From international congresses and webinars to prominent expos and collaborative forums, ICAERUS remains at the forefront of innovation and capacity building in Agricultural Environmental and Rural UAV Services.
Adrien Lebreton and Terence Dechaux from the Institut de l’Élevage (Idele) presented the results of the ICAERUS project during the 75th EAAP Annual Congress. This prestigious event was held in Florence from September 1st to 5th, 2024, and attracted over 2,000 participants. Their presentation highlighted the significant advancements and findings of the ICAERUS project, generating interest and discussions among the attendees.
IDELE also made their presence known at the Sommet de l’Elevage with their presentation of “Compter les moutons sans s’endormir avec l’IA”


Noumena‘s Esther Vera Moreno and AUA’s Vasilis Psiroukis joined fellow experts from the SPADE EU project and Chameleon HorizonEU project to share their experiences from the ICAERUS EU crop monitoring and drone spraying use cases. This was during a webinar organized by MDPI entitled: “Drones for Rural Development II”. The goal of the workshop was to discuss and share insights on the extensive utilization of drones in rural regions, spanning sectors such as agriculture, forestry, livestock, and other industrial domains.
AgFutura Technologies, GEOSENSE, alongside with i-BEC and ScientAct had the opportunity to present ICAERUS during the IF-HELEXPO in Thessaloniki. Thw event, organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, brought together key players in technology and academia, providing an opportunity to showcase the innovative solutions developed within the ICAERUS project.


The Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) actively represented ICAERUS at key events across Europe, showcasing the project’s contributions to digital innovation in agriculture.
Cluster Event: Digitalisation for farmers and rural communities, a policy event organised in Brussels by the European Commission, DG AGRI and the European Research Executive Agency (REA) : Aikaterini Kasimati represented ICAERUS at an event hosted by REA, bringing together representatives from 17 EU projects focused on the digital transformation of farming and rural communities. The event fostered valuable exchanges on leveraging smart technologies for sustainable rural development.
ALIGNING: Asian Clusters in Agriculture and Climate Change (6-11 November 2025) ALIGNING brings together 5 Asian HEIs as well as 2 EU HEIs from agriculture, management and climate change, a research institute specialising in capacity building and TechEd and 2 Asian agribusiness/agricultural associations.
National Demonstration Event where ICAERUS and other research initiatives were presented to Greek high school and university students (8 November 2025).
Research & Innovation Webinar on Pesticides and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) (11-12 February 2025) Organised by DG SANTE and DG AGRI, this two-day webinar provided a platform for ICAERUS to present its innovative approaches to pesticide use and sustainable pest management.
“Transition to a Sustainable Agricultural Future” – Tripoli, Greece (24 February 2025) AUA showcased ICAERUS at this event organised by NILEAS Producers Group and the Region of Peloponnese, discussing its role in supporting sustainable agricultural practices.
“Advancing Fertilisation Management: Innovations and Insights from STRATUS” (26 February 2025). AUA participated in this event, presenting ICAERUS and its contributions to precision fertilisation and nutrient management.
On November 2024, George Fragkopoulos from HCPA Hellenic Crop Protection Association, presented the ICAERUS project to representatives from all member companies during an open meeting of HCPA’s Regulatory working group. During his presentation, George discussed:
- The Drone Spraying Use Case and the trials that are being led by HCPA
- HCPA’s role in the project, including the formation of a dedicated working group.


RFF had the chance to represent ICAERUS on the third day of the EU Agri-Food Days, which focused on Empowering Farmers Through Digitalisation and Data Sharing . The event took place in Brussels from December 10 to 12, 2024, bringing together stakeholders from the agri-food sector, civil society, consumers, academia, and policymakers from across the European Union. It emphasized how digital tools and data collaboration can transform farming practices, promoting a more sustainable and efficient agricultural sector.
In November 2024, the Open University had the chance to present ICAERUS at EIMA International 2024, an international agricultural and gardening machinery exhibition in Bologna, Italy.
Wageningen University published the Evaluating Generalization of Methods for Artificially Generating NDVI from UAV RGB Imagery in Vineyards, by Jurrian Doornbos, Önder Babur, and João Valente.This study explores the use of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to generate NDVI maps from low-cost RGB imagery for vineyard management, particularly for assessing Botrytis bunch rot (BBR) risk and vigor. ICAERUS was also presented to Vision+Robotics. The Vision+Robotics program combines this rich domain knowledge with technology: we bring together a diverse team of more than 40 experts in computer vision, robotics, AI, and spectral imaging from all corners of WUR.
